EOS Gravity | Interview Series | Everipedia
Since its establishment, EOS has been shouldering the heavy responsibility of block chain 3.0. As a block chain project that has always been in the forefront of controversy, it is developing at an incredible speed. When we focus on EOS itself, we find that there is a group of mysterious people working silently on the land with nothing. So we wanted to focus on this group of people and teams who are contributing to the development of EOS.
1.How would you describe Everipedia?Where did your initial idea come from?
Everipedia's IQ Network is the world's first Encyclopedia on blockchain that allows anyone to become a stakeholder in the system and earn rank, rewards & tokens for curating content.
To create a better Wiki. Everipedia hope to disrupt the old centralized internet knowledge encyclopedia model similar to Wikipedia. By creating a new incentive structure and a distributed backend hosted within a blockchain, the new Everipedia knowledge base will be able to improve upon all fundamental features of Wikipedia.
2. Can you introduce your team and tell us what makes it special?
Everipedia is being led by a team with extensive experience and knowledge both in the online knowledge space as well as the blockchain industry. The executive team is made up of several prominent individuals in the industry, the Co-Founder of Wikipedia, Larry Sanger, the founder of Genius.com, Mahbod Moghadam, and several others. Academic credentials includes UCLA, Stanford, Yale & Columbia, covering nationalities from the United States, Sweden, Norway and Italy.
3. What stage is the project at and what are your plans for scaling up?
Everipedia is currently in the beta stage, the smart contracts for the article module and the token module have been online, and the mainnet has been switched to EOSIO. The main promotion plan is to attract more editors around the world to create articles and attract readers on Everipedia. Everipedia is now the world's largest English encyclopedia, but users in many countries do not know about or have not used Everipedi. In fact, their demand for free content is even greater.
4. Why did you decide to use blockchain technology, and specifically on EOSIO?
There are several features of blockchain that are well suited to the ideas of Everipedia, such as decentralization, democracy, and anti-censorship.
EOSIO is one of the best public chain, and its DPOS consensus mechanism has been validated on both BTS and Steem, and EOS's high performance is currently the only one that meets Everipedia's requirements for TPS.
5.What are the advantages of Everipedia compared to Wikipedia?
- Everipedia is more inclusive and open;
- Everipedia's editing interface is more modern and friendly, making it easy for ordinary users to participate;
- Everipedia is more decentralized,liberal and democratic;
- Everipedia has a sustainable economic model;
The blockchain provides important infrastructure for Everipedia to achieve decentralization, anti-censorship, democracy, and self-sustainability;
6. What is the value of using Everipedia's token IQ?
IQ is a utility token. In terms of value, it is definitely from the value inflow of platform. On the other hand, IQ has certain usage value, such as editing rights and voting rights for articles, as well as the ability to participate in the governance of Everipedia platform by holding IQ, which reflects the value of IQ. And in the future, as the application scenarios become richer, IQ will have more valuable applications.
7. What is the development experience that EOS provides for developers? Will it be difficult to develop EOS applications and smart contracts?
EOS provides developers with a very good development experience. In terms of the underlying design,it's very friendly to developer, the community is also very powerful and everyone is very active in development communication.
Hopefully,Everipedia's smart contract is not simple compared to some other applications, but it's all working pretty well for now.
8. In the long run, how do you look into the blockchain industry and EOS?
In the long run, I am very optimistic about the blockchain industry and the EOS public chain. At present, the whole industry is really in the very early stage. The global participation users only about 0.4%, and the real practitioners are estimated to be less than 0.1%. With the gradual landing and maturity of public chains like EOS, many large-scale collaborative applications will appear, which will bring different paradigm shifts to many industries. Some Internet giants who rely on the monopoly of network effect may have to be careful.If the idea cannot be changed in time, The cryptocurrency world could really take a big hit.
As a utility token, EOS is likely to gradually move closer to the property of value storage with the increasing number of users and the increasingly perfect ecological development. As for whether EOS can become the public chain of over one trillion dollars, no one can say. Let's wait and see.
