A Blockchain-Based Tourism Marketplace? Of Course! Where? In Dubai, Obviously...
If a significant part of your country is built either on desert, or on man-made islands, then I guess you're not very scared of new stuff, being it the almighty blockchain. I'm talking about Dubai, of course, a country which seems to be on the forefront of tech innovation, although its governance is far from being a democracy.
In a recent effort to boost the country's already thriving tourism industry, Dubai announced a "blockchain based tourism marketplace", as part of its Dubai 10x initiative.
According to a news published by Arabian Business:
Dubai Tourism's Blockchain Marketplace aims to add an additional distribution channel for hotels in its first phase within the next 24 months.
Tourism chiefs said they aim to give global guests direct choice across the breadth and depth of the local tourism inventory, within a highly safe, transparent and real-time environment.
It's worth noting that Dubai also issued serious warnings about riskier parts of the blockchain ecosystem, such as ICOs, where it keeps a rather strict approach.
It's interesting to see actual use cases for advanced blockchain technologies, where speed, scalability and intercommunication are key. I mean,it's nice to read about all these, as a geek, but it's even better to think about how to actually implement an EOS, Tendermint or Cardano blockchain for a project like this one.

Dubai has always impressed me.
The idea of a crypto based on tourism is interesting and driven by Dubai, it seems that it will have future
We can see what a country with money is and with a government that administers it well or at least better than others.
I might have to move to the middle east. America is really being left in the dust.
There is block chain fear of missing out, then this is use case FOMO........
Those who keep pace with the changing trends will survive. So, I think organizations will have to embrace blockchain for their survival.
This is great and I hope soon enough we would see this in other parts of the world and not just Dubai alone...but it is owk to have it start from Dubai.

Well the Arab has goy the money and motivation to back it up...they proved it many times in recent history.
They can certainly afford to engage in newer and revolutionary project far innovational and riskier. With that being said....I think that blockchain will bloom under Arabs umbrella as far as the oil is flowing from their wells!!!
