Pocketnet beta update: Big things coming soon!

We would like to give you an update on the beta test of Pocketnet, the non-corporate social network on the blockchain. The feedback has been great and we are adding new features based on your feedback daily.

Let me share a couple of thoughts on where this whole blockchain thing is going. I firmly believe that the future of cryptocurrencies is bright. However, crypto community must get out of the purely monetary mindset. By ‘monetary mindset’ I mean focus on cryptocurrency as ‘out-of-the-box’ competitor to VISA, Mastercard or even US Dollar. Will not happen. There are too many levers that are controlled by those entities and it is not like the experience of credit cards for the consumer is horrible to force them to switch.

In order to make crypto mainstream, we must build products that create value. Only then we can use the decentralization technology to ensure that the value we create is transferable with our tokens. Sure, BTC can work as a limited supply hedge to the financial Armageddon, but we don’t need more BTCs. In fact, if crypto remains only a doomsday hedge against the madness of central bankers, I would believe that to be a missed opportunity.
That is why we now have Pocketnet. Within a few days we will be releasing a desktop app and then a mobile app. Group chat and encrypted peer-to-peer chat will be included in those.
