Some Ethereum users are being asked to exchange their ETH for "ETH2" tokens by malicious attackers who are attempting to commit fraud by using fraudulent Eth2 names.
Correspondingly, it has been decided by foundation that the term names Ethereum 1.0 (ETH 1.0) and Ethereum 2.0 (ETH 2.0) will be changed.
Ethereum 1.0 has been converted to "execution layer". This refers to the proof-of-work blockchain now commonly known as just Ethereum.
Ethereum 2.0 has been replaced by "consensus layer," which refers to the proof-of-stake consensus mechanism to solve network scalability and security issues.
This new, clearer terminology is expected to eliminate Eth2 fraud and make the ecosystem more secure.
