Blockchain in Aircraft Fueling?
How do you speed up settlements when fueling aircraft, improve planning, increase transparency, and make sure there can be no violation of contractual terms? Using blockchain and smart contracts, of course! That is just how the major international airline S7 and Gazpromneft, a leading supplier of aviation fuel, now intend to structure their relationship. I can’t be sure that this decision isn’t more about PR than about any real benefit, but there are two important things here. First: major companies and corporations are choosing blockchain more and more often as a reliable business tool. In other words, the technology has been tested, studied, and it is trusted. Second: blockchain really does make many business processes easier and faster — from document management to financial transactions. I don’t think there is any need to explain how important this is in commercial aviation, where speed is key in absolutely every way. In this case, everyone ends up winning, most of all me and you, the passengers who are the reason the planes fly in the first place.
