How To Build Your Personal Brand On Steemit Without Burning Yourself Out
If you’ve tried (and failed) at keeping a posting schedule, don’t feel bad.
Creating content, especially good content, is hard work. It takes a long time.
And you are not the only Fish in this Steemit Ocean facing this
And sometimes you don't see the rewards you feel your post deserves
So, how do some Steemians (like me :) )write five, or even seven articles every week?
You might think that we are blessed with some genius gene, or we are part of a secret Erudite clan
The truth is that every prolific writer you see is a normal person. What seperates them from the normal person is their habit.
Habits that have given them the ability to repeat a successful pattern everyday
So do you want to write five or more articles a week?
The truth is that constant content creation is the chief way of growing your Personal Brand on Steemit.
Content is like the gift that keeps on giving.
I decided to create an e-book of the #blockchain-blogger series and by the time I went through my old post I found out that i have amassed tons of valuable information over time.
If you successfully push yourself to produce content now, you’ll be reaping the rewards for months and even years to come.
This week alone I have picked a good number of followers because I started sharing my old Steemit post In WhatsApp groups.
The path to a strong personal brand is repeated content generation.
And in order to achieve this, you’ve got to learn to write more.
That brings me to the point of this post. I want to show you some of the method I use to produce content consistently.
And here’s the best part: you won’t burn out.
Burnout is a huge cause of failure. Remember, personal branding is a long term commitment.
Taking extended breaks after a few weeks of red hot intensity won't help your brand
Adhering to these tactics will enable write at least five posts a week without burning out
Create a goal
Obviously you have to set a goal for yourself. I talked about the Importance of a schedule in yesterday's post.
You may first set a goal of three or four posts a week, but the important thing is to set the goal
Esthablishing a vision of what you want to achieve will go a long way in helping you develop discipline for it.
The next thing you have to do is make the goal clear and become determined to achieve it
The next thing you have to do is spend time on that goal.
It is the time you spend working on that goal that enables you to achieve it.
Time is critical to your goal of success
The principle applies for every other goal. You must “get to work” and “stick to it,” which takes time.
Set aside time to write every day
This simply means Persistence. It may not be all that exciting but the more you do, the better you become.
Talent is not the major thing you need to succeed. The Major thing is Persistence
When you keep your commitment to write everyday, you will eventually reach the point where you will find writing five articles a week easy.
Writing in Mental training, the more you do it the stronger and better you become.
Create a deadline for yourself
Most people work better if they are working with a deadline.
Let's say a Teacher walks into a class and gives his Students a project to write and submit.
And when asked for the submission date he replies, "Oh, Whenever."
When will some students get that project done?
Maybe two days or a week or maybe a month.
The Teacher gave no deadline so his project will be shoved aside for other interests.
But if the Teacher tells them that he needs the project Submitted in two days time.
Hopefully they will all get it to him at that time
Many of us work better if we have a date and time by which we have to finish.
You can also apply the power of deadlines in your article writing.
Deadlines aren't a form of unusual punishment. They are a tool to help us achieve our goals.
Eliminate Distractions
Distraction-free writing is the only way to produce content quickly.
A single distraction can cost you some precious seconds or even minutes.
If you are constantly distracted while you write, you will never be able to produce content effectivey.
Distraction can jeopardize your productivity
So shut the door.Turn of your phone and Netflix, and tell people not to interrupt you
Write at the same time every day
When you create a daily routine, your brain get's used to It.
Training your brain to prepare for writing and engagement at a daily appointed time will help increase your writing speed.
It is known as muscle memory, and you can apply it in every other area of your life.
When it comes to this principle, Repetition is key
William Faulkner, a noted American author, is reported to have said,
I only write when inspiration strikes. Fortunately it strikes at nine every morning.
Excellent advice, as always. It's all about creating a routine of productivity in your life, regardless of the the goal.
Goals and deadlines are really an important part. I am glad you included them. They can often help add structure into one’s life. It can be very easy to get lost on Steemit if you have no clue where you are going! Just so many things to do.
I personally don’t even have music or a movie going when I write early in the mornings on blogs. I find I get a few hours of some extreme focus and creativity. Sometimes even before my eyes have adjusted to the brightness of my monitors. I get distracted by the littlest of things I have to have my blinds closed on the windows.
Later in the day I often find myself having some background sounds or music going. I find it interesting the level of distractions I am comfortable with at night vs the early morning.
Hello @enjar
Great comment as usual.
Another thing that will work great with deadlines is working on an empty stomach.
Hunger is a great tool if used properly. Thanks for reading
@ogochukwu
This is some great info that I'm sure will help many minnows starting out!
What worked best for me was creating a list of everything that came to my head, no matter how stupid, and trying to put as much variety in my blog as possible to see what worked best for me as a content creater!
My biggest advice is don't be afraid to fail on here! Anything meaningful in life is only achieved through struggle, and Steemit is no different!
I think your spot in with everything you said! I really enjoyed this one ogo!
Hello @waphilip
Another method is to remain hungry till you actually write something down.
Hunger can be a good motivation, and keeping your self from eating till you pen something down can spur you to write.
@ogochukwu
well it looks like i'm skipping lunch ogo haha
I think you nailed how to create a brand without burning yourself out.
The two biggest items for me that you mentioned, are eliminating distractions, and writing down ideas. If I don't set my phone aside, it becomes a late day poor quality article or no article at all. Also, jotting down ideas has saved me so much time in the creative process. Otherwise, I am conjuring ideas with 2 hours or less before I want to post my article, and that doesn't work out well.
Great job brother!
