in #blitz7 years ago (edited)

Hi guys, i know to play chess... not that good, but quite okay i hope.
This time however i tried something new: Blitz Chess

lichess.org/@/Ultimat0r

(But you could gain time by moving fast, that wasn´t the plan °_° guess it´s adjustable in the options)

Nevertheless i try to move quick and without having a longer thinking process

Yeah the thumbnail is chosen provokingly :)
Peace, Ulti

You committed en passant on your 3rd move. Got lucky there :)

oh yeah, u´re right. but a lot of players don´t know about en passant ;) i knew, but rarely have this in mind

ah and i see, i could have taken his pawn then... but like i said: a lot of players dont know about that. maybe i have to climb the ladder first ^^

Yes if you had taken the pawn you would have opened the board up nicely. You are right not many casual players know en passant or forget about it, It's the newest of the chess laws & nobody knows exactly how old it is, quotes vary from 400-600 years.
Keep practicing you are a decent player. Hardly anyone beats me, I don't gamble on anything but my friends do if they see I'm about to play chess.
I will give you a few pointers...
When playing speed chess it's a handy trick to keep the point value of the pieces in your head eg. Always sacrifice a bishop or knight for a rook etc.
I always look to castle in the game as early as possible it makes you harder to beat.
From the outset look to counter attack rather than attack.
look at as many different options on the board as possible & try & read as many moves in front as you can with each option.
Defend your King with everything (Long live the king) Surround him with bodyguards & make an impenetrable defence for him.
Then invite the attack & pick them off as they falter.
The first to attack usually loses.
Always choose black if you get the choice it's an advantage (most casuals choose white)
If you are good at defending attacking takes care of itself,
Soak up the pressure block everything cover your pieces & frustrate your opponent.
protect every piece I get upset when I lose a pawn unless I'm making a sacrifice.
Good luck, keep playing, practice makes perfect.

hey thanks for the nice and detailed feedback ! i would love to play against u :)
i was a lot stronger 10 years ago, when i was 20 ... i was never in a chess club or something like that, but i played against club members back then ^^

Join a club, it's the best way to fast track your skills. The better the quality of opponent you pit yourself against the better it will make you. Trial & error is the best way to learn anything in this life the more we lose the better we get.

The one who is taking the pawn this way is taking it "en passent". The black pawn was just taking the risk of getting taken en passent, but was not "committing" anything.

Yes agreed but I will still continue to call it 'committing en passant' just because it's easier & quicker than saying "taking the risk of getting taken en passant".
By the way you spelt en passant wrong :)

Oh, you are right, merci!

first match was shit, obviously. was out of practice + it was the very first match since a long time °_° so be lenient with me
