Why i love Black Desert - Life Skills
Greetings,
I'll be making a series of why i love Black Desert. I've been thinking about how to explain and show the game, and i think this'll be the best way to get it done^^
First off is Life Skills.
I've always liked professions in MMO's. I enjoy crafting my own gear/food/pots. And i love going out into the wild to gather whatever i need to get the crafting done. To be honest i think i enjoy making money off it most of all :p
Luckily Black Desert satisfies my needs nicely in that department, and does so much more. Let me give you an example.
Today i wanted to increase my skill in cooking. The quest asked me to make some Stir fried Seafood, thinking it'll be done in no time i get right to work. The problem is that this recepie needs squid. Ofcourse i go to the Marketplace first to see if anyone is selling some. Sadly it's one of those things thats always sold out. Who'd want to eat all that squid? Anyway, i really want that squid so i decide to go fishing for it. I get all my gear together, mount my horse and make my way to the shore line only to find out it can't be caught at the shore, I need a freaking boat. And ofcourse all the boats are sold out aswell.
Well, i've put so much time in it already, i'll be damned if i'm going to give up. Of course i could just make a simple raft, but i've come this far so i decide to make a propper fishing boat instead. I find a shipyard in a far away city that has the facilities needed to craft a fishing boat. Before i set off i gather all the materials needed for the boat and load it into my Trade wagon. I fill the rest of the space up with trading goods and get on the road.
When i arrive i invest into the shipyard. Afterwards i go to a Worker manager and get myself a hard working goblin (Hero's don't build their own ships you know) and put him to work.
After a day or so my goblin finally finishes the ship. Once again i gather my fishing gear, register my boat at the warf, and go out to sea! I find a spot that dear google tells me has squid and get to work. After i catch a good deal of squid and other fish i sail back to shore, light a fire and dry out the squid. Finally in possesion of this elusive ingredient i go back to my house, fire up the cooking utensils and whip up some Stir Fried Seafood.
So just a simple cooking quest send me out to not only use my cooking skill, but also gathering/processing/fishing/trading/sailing. Besides that i had to find a shippingyard, hire a worker and travel quite a bit to finally get this quest done. Obviously i could have been patient and just checked the marketplace until someone puts up some squid, but why make the game boring for myself? Now i have a Fishing boat(which i can mass prodcue for profit) and i've learned a whole bunch about the game.
This is just a bit of what you can do with life skills in Black Desert. Here's all the life skills:
Gathering, Processing, Cooking, Alchemy, Training(horses), Fishing, Hunting, Trading, Farming and Sailing. And i believ climbing is also comming.
Now these are not skills you can lvl, but i count them as life skills, and will get into them in more detail at a later date.
Gathering knowledge.
The Node system.
Workers.
Breeding.
There's alot to do in Black Desert, but i think i enjoy the life skills most of all. I hope this makes people excited to play the game, but if not i enjoy telling why i do ;)
Enjoy your day,
Immy.
Wow, so interesting. I had not heard of Black desert before.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. It's a huge game with lots to do. As such it's also very confusing, but worth getting into. The community is pretty helpfull :)
