The sky turns totally black in the middle of DAY in remote Russian towns / El cielo se puso negro en varios pueblos Rusos remotos
REMOTE Russian towns were plunged into total darkness for several hours a couple months ago— sparking rumours of a secret Kremlin weapons test, UFOs or even the devil's work.
Mystery surrounds the sudden appearance of the massive black cloud that turned day into night across an area bigger than the British Isles.
Moscow’s defence and meteorological officials have failed to comment on the cloud — which hit three vast mainly Arctic districts in Yakutia region.
There were no reports of meteorites, eclipses or weapons tests - let alone sightings of alien spacecrafts.
A local resident in from Eveno-Bytantaisky said: “Messages are going around about about a light flash registered by the US satellites, followed by increase of radioactive level and unusual activity of the military.
“We are never going to be told is this was true or false.”
Some claimed it could be a “new type of weapon” being tested by the Russian military.
Another source said: “This can only be explained by a UFO.”
Residents reported darkness beginning around 11.30am and lasting almost three hours on Friday.
Gloom descended on Eveno-Bytantaisky, Zhigansky and Verkhoyansky but none of these districts have been hit by wildfires that are raging in other Siberian localities.
The areas are so far north that at this time of year they have virtually 24-hour light — but as one local said: “Day suddenly turned into a dark night”.
Another said: “I couldn’t see a thing without switching lights on.
“We took torches to walk outside, but actually no-one wanted to be on the street because the feeling was as if something heavy in the air was pressing on your chest.”
Accounts spoke of a thick layer of dust after the darkness but this has been denied by some officials, who also expressed doubts that pollution from wildfires was the cause.
A local official in Nizhne-Bytantaisky settlement said: “At first it looked like it was a strong thunderstorm coming.
“The air went dark, and got darker and darker, but this time unlike anything else we have seen before the darkness had a rich yellow undertone."
Konstantin Starostin, head of the settlement, said: "When the sun vanished, people started calling us.
"Many got scared, especially elderly people.
"The sun was gone from 11.30 until 14.00 on Friday 20 July."
Head of Verkhoyansk town Yevgeny Potapov was quoted by The Siberian Times saying: “Something strange happened on that day.”
@abkuniversal, I gave you a vote!
If you follow me, I will also follow you in return!
Strange! My immediate guess or suspicion, would be from wildfires or sand that has been whipped up from somewhere and carried on the wind. If it were a particulate based contaminant (ash/sand/dust) i would expect there to also be a layer on surfaces such as vehicles and roofs. That would indicate a more precise reason.
Without checking the weather in the days prior to this event, i couldn't really say, but one thing is for sure, is that it's definately a strange event. If this was to be repeated in the same place, that would indicate to me more of a man-made event.
Great article.
I'd think the military had something to do because there were no wildfires reported or not a big one they said. Also they saw a flash before the event, somebody mentioned there could be a blast from a reactor, if it was a reactor, many could be dead soon. People mentioned they couldn't breath and that it was no dust but smoke with gasoline odor. And that they saw lines of gasoline over the water in some places. Thanks for your vote and sharing of the article. :)

Very wierd! I can imagine it was frightening. Thanks to the resteem by @preppervetuk I found this post @abkuniversal
Thank you for your vote, I would be worried that the military seemed to be active they said, and that they saw a flash before the event. Somebody thought it could be a reactor that exploded, that would be serious.
howdy there abkuniversal! oh man..this doesn't look good. It could be anything including some type of radiation or biological weapon that exploded or who knows but it sounds definitely man-made so I hope those people in that area don't have serious health effects from this strange occurrence! very interesting post! I hope we can find out later what is was.
Thanks Janton, I gave you a vote too. Somebody living there mentioned it could be a nuclear reactor that exploded, that it happened the same in chernobyl and they told the population like 10 days later when people started to die. If it was a military weapon or something, I'd be worried of living there. I wonder why nobody took samples of the ground and water to find out what was that tick substance in the air.
well howdy again abkuniversal! yes exactly, why didn't anyone take samples? I hope you can keep following this story because it's strange! thank you!
