As a BJJ practitioner, I simultaneously appreciate Imanari and hate him. His grappling is incredible, but leaving a trail of broken competitors that had take collectively take nearly a decade off due to knee and leg tendon injuries directly caused by Imanari is disgusting. If knees/kicks are not allowed vs a grounded opponent then I don't believe heel hooks should be either. They are an absolutely vital portion of self defense, but the constant tendon tearing is too dangerous.

I think the real problem is these fighters lack of understanding of when to tap. Some of them wait so long to tap even onthe omoplata neck crank he does and the armbars . But I get where you are coming from some of these look like career enders! In the video though you'll see a few of the fights did allow kicks because a few try it in there. But I totally agree you can't have heelhooks and no kicks to the face while he's doing it.
