The Bitshares State of the Network Reports seeks to combine raw data from a wide range of metrics and combine them into meaningful information to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares network.
Observation from this week
This section will highlight any observations made while analysing the data.
Long running exchange BTC-e has been shutdown by the US authorities and servers including wallet files holding customer funds have been seized. BTC-e has tweeted out that they intend to make customers whole in the coming weeks but the situation is still unfolding and their ability to refund their customers is still in question. @michaelx has posted an article to huffingtonpost going into more details which you can view HERE
@stan Larimer has done a podcast with Richard Jacob from Future Tech Podcast. The podcast cover Bitshares, Steemit, EOS, Cryptonomex, The Billion Hero Campaign, Bitcoin United and more.. you can listen to the interview HERE
@stan has released a series of article relating to BTCX (Bitcoin United). Bitcoin United has been proposed to use the Bitcoin snapshot which was preformed on the 1st of August 2017 to release a Bitcoin fork or 'pitch fork' to the Bitshares network. Offering holders of BTC on the 1st of August a 1:1 distribution of BTCX on the Bitshares 'industrial grade blockchain' which comes with 3 second confirmation times and massive scale-ability. The latest release in the series is Doc Brown's Big Heroic Audacious Goals for Bitcoin which give a good understanding of the history and the goals. You can also see the previous articles HERE
Bitshares core developer Alfredo (@oxarbitrage) has released a road map relating to his active employment from the Bitshares blockchain (via shareholder approved worker proposal). He has proposed to spend the next 4 weeks working 50/50 on a new block explorer and core development task that he has on his 'todo' list. You can find more details about the task list and the road map in general HERE
The billionherocampaign.com website has been revamped and is looking great! and is jammed packed with great information and guides. Check it out now at billionherocampaign.com
Ronny Boesing (CEO of OpenLedger) has proudly announced that the OBITS voting period has completed. 251 OBITS holders out of 1800 voted for OBITS distribution to be carried out exclusively in bitUSD and on the basis of 50% sharedrop and 50% buyback and burn. You can see his announcement HERE
@michaelx this week in telegram has mentioned the creation of a new Bitshares Wallet and UI (possibly multiple wallets). There is no official announcement as yet but work has already started.
BitGold has been affected by a global settlement event which has prevented the smartcoin from being borrowed into existance. Current supply is still trading at normal but no new BitGold smartcoins can be created at this time. Never fear @cyrano is working on a BSIP-0018 at the moment that will allow assets in this situation to be revived. You can find out more about this BSIP HERE. If you would like to learn more about global settlements @estefantt has written a good post HERE
@kencode has released his weekly report on BlockPay, Stealth, Ledger Nano S, graphenej and Smartcoins Wallet. This week has seen lots of work on all the projects and a reimplementation of their backend using docker containers. Ken is still looking for experianced C/C++ Developers so if you have the skills make sure to reach out HERE. You can get all the details in his full report HERE
@full-steem-ahead has released his monthly Witness Report for his Bitshares witness 'Verbaltech2'. You can find his report HERE
A new UIA registered this week 'SMOKE' with the description 'SMOKE is the cryptocurrency of the Smoke.Network. The first cannabis community to combine blockchain technology with social networking to build a platform that rewards users for posting and curating strain reviews as well as rewards commitment to the network. The Smoke.Network contract initialized on EOS will take a snapshot of all BTS accounts holding SMOKE'. smoke.network does not currently present a webpage but looking at the domain registration it is registered by 'Jonathan Hunter' who seems to be related to 420smokers.us. i could not find a public announcement so this may not be official but worth keeping an eye on.
@virtualgrowth is doing a weekly market update and token give away; Check out his post and vote on your favorite asset HERE, if you leave you Bitshares username in the comment you may even be one of the lucky recipients of the token giveaway.
This weeks Bitshares hangout recording has been published and is available HERE
Current registered wallets/accounts within the Bitshares network is 378260; an increase of 2417 wallets/accounts since last week
The last asset registered this week is asset #1570 and it is named 'BRIDGE.BTC' registered by 'cryptobridge' with no description.
