RE: Question: Can i transfer say open.eth from BitShares to MyEtherWallet as actual eth?

in #bitshares7 years ago

I'm surprised nobody answered this for you yet. Open Eth is the exact same thing as eth. On the BitShares network they are basically BTS tokens that back real eth 1:1. When you send the open eth to someone outside the bitshares network, it will end up being real eth.

Thank you for the reply itsdino! I like the bitshares interface and approach. Surprising it doesn't seem better known…

You're welcome! I think it's a hidden gem still partly because of no promotion, and the market seems to lack rationality.

I'd be more confident in this being the case, if, when you go to send ETH in the bitshares/openledger app, the interface didn't say "Transfers are used for sending funds to other BitShares Account Holders", and show that it's sending open.ETH ...... i.e. nothing that it's presenting there gives one confidence that trying to send it to an ethereum address will result in ethereum arriving ......

Ah ... I was clicking on "Send" (and then due to the confusion, googled and ended up here) ... however, I then worked it out - if you go to Withdraw, then it looks more promising :).
