For many of us the whole crypto world ia a massive learning curve, even if we have heard of bitcoin.
Thanks for posting the steps. VERY helpful for others to follow.
I'm part way along the learning curve.
I set up the wallet, but I don't want to sign with an exchange (privacy reasons ATM). But I would like to test my wallet.
I think I have it sorted and the "receive tab in "Electrum" shows
1ka2AF4qKdsp2FuZQmCNNoyejojGsEJGu
Is this what I need to give to other people, so they can send me coins?
How do I test it?
That is the address people would use to send you some bitcoin, yes.
You can check if they have sent it to you at blockchain.info

Bitshares.org is the decentralized exchange, an exchange which does not ask for documentation for sign up. ;)
Thank you I will have a look.
Yes, that would be a BTC address for your wallet. Alt coins each require their own wallet and they have their own special addresses like Bitcoin.
Thank you for your help.
No need to test, it's been tested for years now. ;) Go to a coffee shop, ask if anyone would be willing to sell you $5 in btc for cash. Set a low fee and wait a day for it to show up. ;) Bitcoin is really bad for transferring low amounts of value these days.
Ok I just wanted to be sure I have everything set up OK.
Thanks
I Would Invest In a Decent Anti-Virus/Malware Program
before investing in BitCoin. It's easier to steal bitcoin from an unprotected computer than dollars from your wallet.
Thank you for advise.
I think I am safe? but who knows the 'kids' can hack the NSA, CIA, & FBI, so what chance do I have!
Thank you for that wonderful interview with Connie. I had no idea bitshares existed until i heard that C2C Broadcast. Now i am all in!
