I've always held it that unless you really know a person closely, the conversations that doesn't happen face to face where you get to know a person through text or just voice (maybe few photos) is where you get to know the raw person. behind masks or perceived anonymity people show their true colors.

If you want to know person or a thing in the deepest sense you have to give it the absolute freedom. The virtue (and sin) can stand alone on its two feet. This is why I'm against the Panopticon of radical transparency:
