i get your point. i also upvote... but when i see scam, spam or stupid i will downvote it. words are often not enough. a flag underlines a statement.

also with your word "destroy" i got other view. someone upvotes himself 50cent and i downvote 25cent i think its still worth 25cent... still something build???

I don't like the self-upvote either. Not one bit. It's the source of a LOT of problems with this platform. I'd love to see it done away with altogether. But I'm not going to get on a crusade downvoting everyone I see doing it. Do you try to block in everyone you see speeding on the road? This is like hall monitor behavior.
Yeah you tend to just eliminate this by default. I think sometimes selfupvote is okay. But when someone selfupvotes "yeah great" or "well done" or similar to 1usd or whatever i will downvote... i am not on a "crusade" i just act free and try to discover value
i give every comment i like an upvote, sometimes i like what i am writing ;)
upvote /downvote - up to everyone them selfes.
someone was writing script about this downvoteing.... because of me he found a bug... i was downvoteing my own comment :-)
