This Is How Crypto Miners Use Your Computer To Mine Coins
On a daily basis, there are several websites that each of us visit to gather information, reseach or read news. Did you know that some of these websites we visit hijack visitors' computers to mine coins? This at times can be noticed when you visit a website and your laptop or computer slows down markedly.
Not only slowing down the computer, cryto mining consumes huge amounts of electricity. It is said to be a profitable venture especially when someone else somewhere is footing the electricity bills by mining through their computers.
The Trick
Some of the websites we visit have a crypto mining software inserted in their websites' that is using your computer to secretly mine coins without your consent. The more computers involved, the more coins are mined and the less expenditure on electricity bills by the miners.
The software on these websites uses the Central Processing Unit (CPU) of the visitors' computer to perform the functions needed to mine coins.
Most of these mining softwares are just a plug-in which can be simply switched on or off. You may not realize it at first, because these miners switch on the software for some time to mine and later switch off.
You can also protect your computer from miners by installing a software that detects a code that runs in the background of a website used to mine coins secretly.
Thanks for reading.
FYI Firefox offers a browser extension, called "No Coin," designed to 'block coin miners using your computer ressources without your consent.'
I didn't know that. Thanks for the information.
Welcome.
There was a big scandal here, where online casinos and e-commerce mined without permission.
They got away with it. This is why some sort of a regulation is needed.
Self regulation doesn't work, and free market can turn into monopoly real quick. Some sort of regulations are needed in each market for our own good.
I agree with you on putting up regulations.
