WARNING: Scammers Now Using Bitcoin/BCC Split to Scam People With Fake Wallet Links
Warning
I was not planning on posting today as I need to go out but I think this is important enough for a quick post.
I have previously discussed how scammers were trying to use social engineering to scam peoples' credentials for MyEtherWallet by issuing fake warnings along with spoofed links on Slack.
It appears there is a now a new development where they are trying to capitalise on the BCC/BTC split on August the 1st:
Do not fall for it. Bittrex or any other legitimate exchange/service will not send you these kind of messages asking you to click on links - particularly in Slack.
If you want to get both BTC and BCC then you can keep your coins on an exchange that will honor both chains or to be ultra safe you can keep them in your own private wallet that you own the keys to.
Thanks for the warning! My advice should be to not transact for a while anyway and not dump one of the coins:

Yes agreed on not transacting. I think people dumping BCC is inevitable though.
so good
@thecryptofiend - Thank you for the heads up. As you have advised, I have kept some bitcoin crypto in an offline secure paper wallet. I have kept some in Bittrex since Bittrex has officially announced that they will support both chains. Keeping fingers crossed. You make a very valid point about reputed exchanges never sending emails with embedded links. Thanks. Upvoted.
I request you to visit my latest blogs when you have some free time. You valuable comments and feedback will be very much appreciated. Thanks
Cool well done!

Thanks for the warning. My rule of thumb is always NEVER DO WHAT SOMEBODY WRITES TO YOU OR WANTS FROM YOU IN A DIRECT MESSAGE WITHOUT YOUR OWN ACTION BEFORE!!!
Some Emails are very clever designed and it sometimes hard to avoid, but if follow the rule it's 99% safe i think. Detailed look at such message almost always reveal something odd. Email adress of sender, subject, how they adress you and details in the body of the message.
true!
Absolutely.
Right
Totally agree.... after so many losses (I didn't have much to lose at these times so it's not a big problem for me) I've become good at knowing legit and scam emails by looking... most of these scam Emails are sent to as many people at once so they don't always has the real 'you' as the receiver but a "distant you' you can feel....
I tend to ask any person that sends me Email I didn't know before "where did you knew me?" as I frequent many websites and don't keep track who is who unless I talk to them a lot.

You're welcome!
@thecryptofiend, do you know some developer to help us on SteemBnB? Any idea will be welcome! https://steemit.com/steembnb/@chicosonico/welcome-to-steembnb-homes-for-steemians
I'm afraid I don't. Finding good blockchain developers is one of the big issues right now.
Here is an example:

Aww man.. this made me laugh. Thanks for the warning.
I had something else odd happen on Bittrex... for some reason 9 units of something called Lucent or something like that showed up in my wallet ($0.18 worth). There's no way I'd purchase 18 cents worth of crypto. I have no idea how it got there!
That is odd! Are you sure it wasn't an airdrop for Stellar Lumens? I think they were giving it away for free to bitcoin holders and Bittrex may have been honoring it to account holders.
That's it Lumen, sorry I'm working on my next chapter of my story and am in "that world." I went down to let the dog in and forgot him lol. Thanks that explains it... I thought my account got hacked- WHEW!!!
Thanks for the heads up. I hate scammers!
