Ehtereum Mining in Thailand

in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

I recently built my first Ethereum mining rig. 4 Rx 570 cards on a H270 PRO4 motherboard and 2 GTX 1060 6GB OC on separate machine. I guess, I was at the right place at the right time when I was bought these items because now it's next to impossible to get anything related to building mining rigs. All, and I mean all, graphic cards that are used for mining bitcoin or alt-coins are out of stock in Thailand. The only thing you can find are GTX1050's that are useless for mining or an GTC 1060 for twice the price. Mining crypto currencies has joined the the rest of the world and has really caught on.

There re supposed to be new cards on the market just for mining alt-coins. I think these will do well because they will be the only cards available but In the long run I dont think they will hold value. At least when Ethereum moves to POS I can sell my cards to gamers. Who will by a "Mining Only GPU" if there is nothing to mine. I know there's always going to be some sort of coin to mine but I think it's a better investment to buy the normal GPU cards.

I won't even mentioned how hard it is to get BTC versions of motherboards...

Well, back to my search for graphic cards, motherboards and power supplies.

If you are a miner in Thailand and want to share resources and setups, feel free to contact me.

It seems everywhere gpus are out of stock. For the mother board, as long as you get the one supporting x1 to x16 pci it should be fine. I remember the msi pro version should support that. It might be pricy to use 1070 for mine. Maybe you should look at the 1060 specific for mining gpu which will come out in mid july.

Yes, motherboards with the PCI-e slots are the one you want but finding the ones that have 5, 6 or 7 slots are hard to find. Biostar and Asrock BTC boards are the best but h270 pro4 can handle 5 slots and with M.2. you can add two more. I currently have GTX 1060s running. Very stable cards but has rate only around 22-25 MH/s. My RX570 are great at 26-30 MH/s. Have order for 5 more cards but who knows when they will come.

Just an update. I went to Bangkok this weekend to see if I can find graphic cards for my new rig. Started in the IT mall Pantip which is a very large building with 7 or 8 floors of Tech.

It seems like all the computer shops are now in the business assembly and selling of mining rigs. Instead of selling parts they keep the stock for them-self's and sell complete rigs at high prices....at they sell out of them.

I then went to Fortune Town IT mall. This mall is huge and has everything tech as well. Shop after shop with the same answer, No! but if I want to order a complete rig then they can sell me one for $3,500 with 5 cards (I'm guessing RX 570 or GTX 1060). I just need the cards as I have everything else ready.

The quest for GPUs continues.

Hi, I'm in Bangkok at this moment and I will build a rig too.

Hello Najoh, its becoming a challenge to build rigs. I get messages everyday of shops willing to sell me completed rigs at a premium price. Let me know if you have any questions or if you have some insight to building rigs.

Hey man, I noticed this post is kind of old. I currently live in Chiang Mai. Do you know if shops are still selling completed rigs at premium prices?

Any updates on rigs and cards? I live down the street from fortune. Im new to mining so I have no idea what to buy. Im mainly interested in mining alt coins.
