Ethereum Reaches Parity With BitcoinsteemCreated with Sketch.

Bitcoin might be the undisputed champion when it comes to familiarity by the general public as compared to the rest of the cryptocurrency world. It also still is the biggest market cap by a wide margin.

When it comes to transaction value, it is no longer the standalone leader.

Ethereum was able to tie the Grand-daddy of crypto in daily transaction value. This is a big milestone for the top Alt-Coin.

One of the core principles of cryptocurrency is the ability to conduct transactions in a peer-to-peer manner. Bitcoin was able to jump into the lead in this realm but Ethereum is coming on strong.

That blockchain is already the leader in DeFi with reports stating there is $1 billion staked.

Ethereum provides an added value in that it has the ability to offer smart contract coding. Bitcoin remained true to its original intention, at least thus far, by conducting transactions only.

Both blockchains are proof of work although Ethereum is switching to proof of stake soon. Many are watching to see how this all pans out.

One key difference is the fact that Bitcoin transactions take place in that currency. On Ethereum, there are a lot of different tokens, including many Stablecoins. All of this comprised the numbers that enabled it to catch Bitcoin.

Between the two chains, there is over $3.0 billion transferred on a daily basis. This is minor compared to the established banking system yet it is a good start.

The fact that Ethereum is now handling a large value of transactions shows the progress that is being made.

As infrastructure expands, we can presume that the numbers, overall, are going keep growing.
