I have a coin base account
should I just start buying LTC
and put it on a trezor hard wallet?

litecoin is good to buy. But yea, prob best to wait a few days, since it just jumped by 20% today. It will easily pull back by 10%, and thats likely a good time to buy, when its at the 10% discount.

A hard wallet is a good call.

Also buy some bitcoin and etherium and prob steem.
