Mining Giant from Japan attacks the Market
The Japanese Internet giant GMO is now actively attacking the Bitcoin mining market and is even competing with its Chinese competitors. The Japanese company could revive the market with low power consumption of its ASICs.

At a press conference on 13. September 2017, GMO Internet Inc. presents new plans for the development of the 7nm ASIC chip. The new 7-nanometer series was first researched by IBM in 2015 and has only been in serial production since 2017.
In addition to research, the company is also planning to establish a mining farm in Northern Europe. While some news portals speak of Scandinavia, i have information that a Baltic country may be the location.
The first tests are scheduled for December. The infrastructure provides clean and cheap energy, says GMO.
GMO plans to spend around 10 billion Japanese yen, or 76.2 million euros, on its own research. The company plans to produce motherboards that can be plugged into ASICs and PCIe cards that can also be connected to standard computers.
Each board should deliver up to 8 TH/s and consume only 300 watts. GMOs chip is said to consume only 56% of the energy used by competitors. Mass production of the 7nm chips is scheduled to start in May next year. In addition to the 7nm chips, the research funds will also be used to research 5nm and 3.5nm chips - a step that sounds very utopian due to the current research speed.
