It was an awesome time on Saturday 29th July 2017 as Bitcoin enthusiasts and promoters gathered at Virgin Rose Resorts, Bishop Oluwole street, Victoria Island Lagos to unveil the most anticipated online store of the year - SHOPNOW.NG and everyone that was present didn't only leave with joy but with better knowledge and understanding of the potentials of Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies generally in the life of a Nigerian entrepreneur and investor.
The event was opened by the founder of shopnow.ng - Olorunshola Emmanuel with a short history of how the project started and what customers should look out for while shopping with Bitcoin.
Chris Ani - founder of Nigeria's first Bitcoin and cryptocurrency trading and consultation company -CRYPTOHUB took to the podium to enlighten people about Bitcoin and its abilities.
EldaDavid Kehinde Samuel - Director of Nirmala Chellarams Centre for Entrepreneurship skills, took over by talking about the efficacy of social media in business, his session was awesome as he opened many eyes to how social media can be used as a strong tool for business growth than just meeting friends.
Francis Pouliot joined from Canada via cloud meeting and he talked exclusively about Bitcoin, Ecommerce and economic advantages of cryptocurrencies.
The atmosphere got charged completely when Bitcoin evangelist himself Dan Ewah took over and inspired the audience with Bitcoin talk using practical examples and stories they could relate with.
SHOPNOW.NG was officially opened for the public and the unexpected happened - bandwidth was exhausted as many users visited the site waiting to shop and the website "crashed." This was a bittersweet experience but the technical team were able to put things back to order and the website was unveiled again giving the people the opportunity to access the much anticipated online store that accepts Bitcoin as the only means of payment.
SHOPNOW.NG team was introduced as well and it was a wonderful moment.
The event ended with group photograph and shopping began as Nigerians can now shop and pay with Bitcoin.
