How many people have at least one bitcoin ?
Well, to make an estimation, we’ll have to check the available data on Bitcoin distribution.
As you can see, there are 565,406 addresses (or 2.11% of them all) that have at least 1 Bitcoin. However, one address does not necessarily mean one person, so we don’t really know how many people have at least one Bitcoin.
Moreover, the situation becomes more complex because one person can, for example, hold one Bitcoin in more different addresses (like 0.1 BTC in 10 wallets, or 0.9 in one wallet and 0.1 in another one).
In this case, the addresses have less than one Bitcoin and they should be displayed in another row of the table above.

…if everyone would be the second scenario, everything will be more or less convenient for counting.
However, we would have troubles with finding persons who hold at least 1BTC but in more under 1BTC wallets (1st scenario).
In the third scenario, we would think that a 10BTC wallet is surely belonging to someone who, naturally, has at least 1BTC.
But it can be a company, so each individual would receive only a portion of it - maybe less than 1BTC.
Anyway, according to this table, we have to be sure that no more than 500 thousand people have at least 1 BTC.
But this is not all - imagine this..if I have at least 1BTC today and it happens that I lose the keys -
Do I still have the funds ?
No.
the wallet is irreversibly lost. If we were to count the lost BTC funds, then we should cut 20–25% of it.
It was reported earlier:
A new study published by Chainalysis—a digital forensics firm that has a deeper look at Bitcoin’s blockchain—and reported by Fortune, shows us that up to 4 million Bitcoins might never see the light of day again.

4 million Bitcoins out of today’s supply at 16.7 million is around 25% - all of it gone forever.
Out of these 500,000 potential individuals who might hold at least 1BTC, we should cut at least 100,000 (20%), and we’ll have 400k.
So, we don’t know how many people have at least 1BTC, but it is surely no more than 400,000 individuals as of today (December 26, 2017).
400,000 people is the population of Miami (Florida)
