6 Big News in The Cryptocurrency World
I have been in the cryptocurrency world for about a year. I have never seen such a week. Too many big news in a short time. The following is a summary of important news with links for further reading:
1- CoinDash $10 Million Hack

Note: I have seen many sites calling this an Ether hack. It is not. It was a very simple website hack.
2- Parity $32 Million Hack
This is very big. Parity is a very popular wallet for Ether. It is used by many ICO's to store the funds they raised. Those were the most affected by the attack. What is more interesting is how white-hat hackers were able to stop the drainage. They had to hack $150,000,000 of Ether to secure it. Read more here :

3- BTC-e Down + MtGox connection
BTC-e is a Russian bitcoin and alt coins exchange. Their site says it is down for maintenance, but I doubt that is the real reason. Read more here:

4- Bitcoin will fork After All
I am not sure how big will this be. But it definitely has caused many people to worry. At least two forks have been confirmed. It was a shock after SegWit2x has locked-in. Read more about them here:

5- Genesis-Mining.com Hacked
If you have an account with Genesis-mining, you would have noticed that they haven't been paying any payouts for a week now. We have finally learned that the reason was a small hack. They say that the hack has been contained, the mining was not affected and that all payouts will be sent gradually. Read more here:

6- LedgerX approved by SEC
LedgerX defines itself as the first federally regulated bitcoin options exchange and clearing house to list and clear fully-collateralized, physically-settled bitcoin options for the institutional market. Recently: "After three years of work, New York-based startup LedgerX was today granted a rare derivatives clearing organization (DCO) license allowing it to clear and custody financial instruments backed by bitcoin, ether and any number of blockchain-based cryptocurrencies." Solid reporting with relevant headlines! Disappointed about the fork but have known for quite some time. It will be interesting to see if BCC can compete with BTC and what will come out about the differences between the two. Great work!

What do you think of the other fork BTC-U ?
I've read this is just a proposal at this point but I may need to go back and look at it closer. I think if it does actually hit the market it will see mass adoption. With the same technology as EOS and Bitshares it will rival traditional Bitcoin assuming it can be promoted heavily enough.
It seems that it is more than a proposal now. Check @stan 's blog.
They even have an aggressive marketing plan for it.
Honestly, I think it has a better chance than BCC.
Honestly, I'm all for any plan including BTC-U if it can bring stability to the crypto market. Its sad to see it hurt so badly by a civil war and see so many new investors instantly become bagholders before they even had a chance to make some gains and experience the benefits of crypto... Many just sold and cut their losses thinking its a complete scam.

I was planning to invest a big amount of money in cryptos. Now I have decided to hold my horses for a while.

Aside from joking, This is very bad for mainstream adoption.
Yes it will take a while to get over the bad publicity , but maybe it is a blessing in disguise and will make sure the exchange 's and powers to be make sure there products is safe and or if they get hacked guarantee there users will be reimbursed ...
