It sounds weird and I know probably dumb as well, but first I recommend the blockchain videos from IBM. They're new, they have a lot of computing power and they manage and distribute their resources very efficiently. I think they'd like to do something to the bitcoin as it is, not a new fork, By that I mean develop an algorithm (soft approach), construct enough speciality circuits and boards to mount a 51% attack, or just lease enough computing power through the long standing contracts they've had with the most computationally powerful entities Nation States. Add in universities and businesses and who knows maybe they're excited about the futures market. We know already they're using a turing complete contract writing spc on watson so who know where they're at.
Doesn't sound dumb to me. IBM is and will be a major company and early adopter.
