Just to clarify all the doubts with regards to Segwit2x, it does not necessarily mean we will all be receiving free B2X.
There are 3 possible scenarios that might happen:
Rules of Bitcoin changes where the blocksize is now doubled, and there will be no creation of a new currency. (Given that majority of the support upgrades their mining system.)
Differences in support results in a new currency, B2X being formed. (very likely)
No significant support and the rules of Bitcoin maintains. No new currency will also be formed.
As of now, it seems like everyone is geared and prepared for the second scenario to happen. As of right now, there is no 100% way to predict which scenario might unfold, only time will tell.
Segwit2x is hyped enough to have at least some support,
I agree with you that scenario 2 is the most likely outcome of the hardfork.
