Blockstack will promote the creation of decentralized social networks with an incentive of US $ 1,000,000

During this week it was learned that Blockstack, the popular company based in the United States, will offer the generous donation of US $ 1,000,000 as an incentive to initiatives that involve solid projects to help create decentralized social networks, in which users are those who have the control of the data they decide to share.

In detail, the company declared that it would donate the amount of US $ 100,000 to a total of 10 Dapps that present solid bases and "restructure the fundamental bases of how we connect with each other", according to what was published on its website, in which Those interested will find a questionnaire to register their project. It should be noted that Blockstack was founded in 2013 in New York City and focuses on the development of decentralized applications (dApps).

The reason that serves as "fuel" for this initiative is the need for "a new generation of social networks", taking into account that, currently, the portals used by different users to interact can use each other's information in order to to make a profit

The time has come for a new generation of social networks, where power is removed from a single authority and control is restored (...) to all of us. It's time to decentralize social networks. This is a movement towards greater personal freedom, but an empowered community is needed to build this future, says Blockstack in a statement.

To participate, developers must complete a form in which they are asked to describe, in less than 50 characters, the project with which they wish to apply for funding.

The announcement comes almost a month after Mark Zuckerberg, creator of Facebook, starred in the controversial scandal to use information from 87 million users by Cambridge Analytica during the 2016 presidential campaign in the United States.
