RE: STEEM (SBD) Trading Bot Growth Hack Project Outline
My friend I appreciate creative development work but I think you are using steem's name as a marketing trick for your bitcoin trading platform. Your platform absolutely has no connection to steem's wallet as long as I understood and it's simply a bitcoin trading app. You can convert your bitcoin to every currency out there so calling it steem-sbd trading bot is misleading. With the same logic there shouldn't be a surprise if you go to for example monero community and call it "Monero Trading Bot" because you can exchange your bitcoin to monero too.
Do business ethically to gain respect.
I agree with you, This seems like a way to have people install dubious executable.
Thanks for your thoughts. Let me help clear this up confusion. This project has nothing to do with trading bitcoin at all. The purpose of using bitcoin in this project is simply for transferring funds as it is not possible to do so in STEEM yet. The trading is done in USD (fiat) and not bitcoin. Again bitcoin only for transferring funds to exchanges.
I only discovered Steemit two weeks ago (see my intro post) and I am committed to investing my time and money into the community. I believe in it. This project is how I am going to grow my Steem account.
When I first purchased STEEM I had to use both USD and bitcoin to do it. I purchased BTC in USD and then purchased STEEM in BTC: that is exactly what this project is all about.
I am not familiar with Monero, but yes you could convert USD into btc and into any crypto you choose. I choose Steem.
I wholeheartedly disagree with you on the ethics of calling it a STEEM (SBD) Trading Bot Growth Hack is wrong. That is exactly what it is, a hack to grow my Steem through a trading bot program I wrote. Yes, the trading bot trades USD and not STEEM - it is not possible to trade STEEM without btc or usd. Again, the original way I purchased Steem was through first USD and then BTC.
The project is only beginning. You will see it is all about Steem and specifically powering up. I hope we grow to the day steem's wallet can be directly connected to various brokers worldwide, today that is BTC. Tomorrow it could be Steem.
It is totally possible to connect to steem's wallet. Your app just cannot do that and it's a BTC trading bot. The fact that you are aiming to do whatever with your money is not the design goal of the app and neither your app functions that way. You are free to power up your money into steem but calling your app a steem app while there is technically no connection to steem is 100% misleading for non-technical users.
Steem's wallet as the capacity to checkout on Amazon but it does not have the capability because Amazon, not me, needs to implement it. Same thing here.
You are making a ridiculous assertion again after already being corrected that Bitcoin is being traded. There is a video in the post showing USD being traded.
I am definitely open to changing the name of the project. There is no intention of misleading anybody only creating a cool tool to power up Steem.
How about: Automated Trading Bot to turn USD into BTC into STEEM
That is exactly what is being done. As I wrote in the first post of the project:
Create money, transfer it to bitcoin, transfer the bitcoin to steem power and HODL.
You change the name we are cool. As I said since you are not working with steem technology directly you shouldn't name it a steem product. With your argument every money making way in life is a steem related product since steem and bitcoin and fiat are all "traded" (for example: Sell drugs, make money, buy bitcoin, power up your steem)
100% onboard with you. I appreciate you helping me figure this out to do what is best moving forward. Thanks @p0o for looking out for Steemit and the community.
Thank you for understanding :-)
