A Simple Yet Elegant Bit of Bitcoin Social Engineering
The simplicity of this scam is epic, and it illustrates how an unscrupulous person can take advantage of others via cryptocurrencies using human biology, or really any need, whether fabricated or natural. I don't feel that this needs to be explained, debated, or have a ton of photos for you to really get it.
As a former smoker in a wealthier country where $2.50 isn't much to me, I have to say that this is likely pretty conscience-free on the part of the scammer. They can tell themselves it's teaching the scammed individuals that it'll do them good to see how far they go for their addiction, and not risk any real retaliation. And the low price is roughly half to a third or less of the cost of a pack of cigarettes.
Be careful when you're gambling to fulfill a need or desire based on an addiction, especially when your "Too Good to Be True" radar should be going off.
