Ok so what is a blockchain?
Well as the name says it's a chain of blocks that contain information. It was first thought up in 1991 by a group of researchers, and was intended to timestamp digital documents. So you couldn't tamper our change the dates.
Now it is used for a different purpose, cryptocurrency. The founder of bitcoin took this idea and adapted it to create the cryptocurrancy in 2009.
A blockchain it's a digital ledger that is completely open to anyone. Once data it's put in it can't be changed. There is more but I'll leave that for another article. Thank you for reading.
