Bitcoin is about to loose its number 1 rank - Great!!
Ethereum has only to rise 40% to overtake Bitcoin and shift the focus to all AltCoins.
This will be a very redefining moment... Everyone will start to see AltCoins as more than AltCoins. This is very positive for everyone who stopped believing in the eternity of Bitcoin domination years ago, as I did.
Everyone will know that this is an open race and that the one with the best ideas eventually will win.

The Commodore 64 was also a first mover and dominated the market for years. That did not mean that it dominated the market forever. Bitcoin is Commodore 64, and this market is no different. People will learn this now!!
My hopes are that Bitcoin will loose its ability to drag the whole market with it. And hopefully exchanges will add many more pairs than btc pairs to its trading platforms.

This is really cute reading those but liken bitcoin to an old computer hardware is ridiculous and only a sign of lack of knowledge in what blockchain is.
I'm not sure if its great or if will scary everyone and make the marketcap drop even more but I'm happy that I bough ETH instead of BTChaha
It is a miracle that BTC staid for years where it is... I would find it less scary to see Ethereum on top than Bitcoin taking down the whole cryptomarket with it...
Agree, ETH has more valeu than BTC that people were buying as a gold to hold and sell later.
@mexbit, Absolutely 100% agree with you. I saw this market condition recently. Yep..Bitcoin is about to loose its number 1 rank and peoples going to invest and trade another coins. I thought for BTC come to rank 1 will be ETH. Alts can't come to no.1 rank coz it was down long. So best opportunity has to ETH. This is only my opinion. If I'm wrong plz correct me.

The bitcoin world is a murky one. People were throwing money in like no tomorrow not realising the majority of coins are held by a proportionally small number of people. Once they knew the hype was finishing they sold.
That leaves the small time investor just jumping in now completely screwed.
There are a number of altcoins that may survive but not to the dizzying heights of bitcoin. Litecoin, Ethereum, Ripple, and others. There's hundreds.
The Gold rush of the current generation.
Bitcoin is not unreplaceable. There might be 20 AltCoins overtaking it in the next 4 years...

The first mover advantage is really not the strongest part of BTC, it is the fact that its base function is store of value. Bitcoin created this feature in an unique way and no alt will ever be able to copy this.
BTC will be able to do smart contracts later on, but ETH will never be a proper store of value (rollback was a joke, decentralization demolished). I believe a platform needs store of value as base function to be finally most efficient, because then the miners are already paid, so 2nd layers can be used for (as good as) free.
In my opinion ETH can move faster because it is more centralized and not build up from the fundament (store of value), but in the long run BTC will deliver all the features better, cheaper, faster and more secure. I am not worried that ETH will take over BTC in market cap, because they use another mining algorithm and will even move to PoS (what is unproven and causes in theory more centralization).
Bcash was dangerous, because if they get more valuable they will also become more secure. For ETH this doesn't matter. Good luck overtaking BTC in market cap, it doesn't mean anything for BTC, their super exiting roadmap will just continue!
