Note
Gain a fundamental understanding of Cryptocurrency in an easy way. Before continue reading the story, I recommend to take a couple of minutes and read through the prior article again in order to refresh your present knowledge. The more often you read through the story, the more confident you will get with the technology behind cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Take your time, to understand cryptocurrencies, as a Steemian it's worth it. If something in the story is not clear to you, don’t hesitate to ask. There are several people who might have the same question. So shoot me a comment, if something is unclear. Me and other readers will appreciate it!

In the last episode we saw the overall picture how Full-Nodes are connected with each other in the Bitcoin-Network. They are connected in order to send & receive pending-Bitcoin transactions and blocks with each other.

In this episode I want to complete the Big-Picture of the Bitcoin-Network. In Episode 2.1 we met the Bitcoin-Miner Alice.

We got to know that a Bitcoin-Miner is participating in a mathematical-contest in order to win some Bitcoins as a reward. In order to win the reward, a miner has to solve a mathematical-task and afterwards secure the Bitcoin-Network. We explained what it means to secure the Bitcoin-Network.

Actually, every Bitcoin-Miner is a Full-Node with a additional Bitcoin-Mining function. That means every Miner, like Alice, does the same functions like every Full-Node. It sends & receives pending Bitcoin-Transactions and blocks from the Blockchain.

That also means that every Bitcoin-Miner holds a local list of pending-Bitcoin transactions like all the other Full-Nodes. Like we said before, this local list consists of pending Bitcoin-Transactions which the Full-Node initiated by itself or received from other Full-Nodes.

This fact is very important to understand. It has something to do with securing the Bitcoin-Network and in general creating new blocks for the Blockchain.

We will dive deeper into it in the next episodes.

Summary

  • A Bitcoin-Miner is a Bitcoin Full-Node with additional Bitcoin-Mining Function
  • Thus a Miner holds a local Blockchain and a list with pending Bitcoin-Transaction
  • This local list consists of pending Bitcoin-Transactions which the Full-Node initiated by itself or received from other Full-Nodes.
