Can Bitcoin Platform PopChest Crush Youtube?
I was just asked to join a budding video website called PopChest. It's very new, but it could potentially change the way people interact with online creators. First and foremost, PopChest is taking the ads out of video content. You read that right- NO ADS. Instead, the creators are supported directly by their viewers. They can set a price, say 5 cents per view (and you can re-watch that video infinitely), and if you're dissatisfied you simply click to be refunded your money. The other addition that could change everything is the inclusion of bitcoin as a currency used to support creators.
I admit, I've never seen anything like it. If it picks up... it could change everything.
With Youtube launching into a new rash of demonetization for "inappropriate material" (aka not advertiser friendly material), many YouTubers are looking to take their content somewhere else.
The website is still in Beta, so there are still some minor bugs. However, I've found that the team behind it is quick to respond to problems. Everyone gets a free 25 cents to explore website so check it out. :)
