When choosing a Bitcoin wallet, you have to ask yourself three main questions.
What level of security?
How many bitcoins do we want to store?
On what device do we want to work?
(But we choose a wallet for it and you must ensure the security of your device on which you want to store Bitcoins.)
Wallets are divided into 5 groups
Portfolio in the form of a computer application - these wallets are intended solely for the computer, which testifies to low mobility. We divide this wallet into two other wallets:
Light - servers store the block chains, not the computer. full portfolio. They are characterized by fast synchronization with the network. Ex: Multibit
Full - Storage of the whole block chain (Blockchain).
Offline wallets (without internet contact). It serves as a safe storage for bitcoins. Mobility is very low, with the exception of the paper portfolio, which allows, for example, printing a banknote with any denomination. Wallets: PaperWallet
Browser wallets - a wallet provided by a website providing such services. To use the wallet, we only need a browser on any computer / phone / tablet. High mobility at the expense of less security, because the security of our funds depends on third parties. Wallets: greenaddress.it, Coinbase.com and instant wallets (only for single use - very low security). Browser wallets are only suitable for short-term storage of small amounts!
Mobile wallets - Wallet as an app for phones / tablets. As the name suggests, these wallets are characterized by very high mobility. They enable, for example, immediate payment in a restaurant or anywhere on the website by scanning a QR code. Wallets with Android system: Mycelium, Copay, GreenBits. IOS: Breadwallet, Copay, Airbitz
Hardware wallets - in the form of a USB key. Very safe, but with limited mobility. We can use it on any computer with a free USB port. They are not suitable for paying, for example, in restaurants. Wallets: Trezor, KeepKey
