Bitcoin is definitely still the best choice. It doesn't make sense to accept a coin that almost nobody owns in your business. Besides that, the high fees on Bitcoin are a temporary issue, this year some breakthrough will happen.
There is not much needed to make bitcoin payments cheap and fast again, because I think the last year the network is spammed by big block advocates to force their will trough the community. Exactly when Segwitx2 was signed, the transaction fees went down a lot. Coincidence?????
we'll definitely will have to see alt-coins taking the lead because the stagnation in the bitcoin sphere with failing to scale. Current 3-5 tx/sec in bitcoin will not be able to serve for mass adoption. I personally like DASH as the alt-coin to be used as cash for everyday transactions.
hopefully there are payment processors that can integrate many different coins. Quite possibly, the future is an array of alt-coins working together(just like today's fiat system.
Regardless, I really hope I see more services for altcoins. (localbitcoins, ATMs, etc.)

I think they just do it for marketing. Nice little story for a local newspaper etc
