The 10. Anniversary of the Bitcoin Paper. Have you read it?
The bitcoin whitepaper is 10 years old.
Congratz to bitcoin and this important birthday. I actually think the real birthday is the 1. Block of course, but the whitepaper is a big and important historical milestone.
Have you actually read it?
I have read the whitepaper fairly early on in 2013 and it changed everything for me. Before reading it, it all sounded a bit funny this internet money. But once I read the whitepaper which is somewhat easy to read for something this profound and technical some of the power of bitcoin became immediatly clear.
Unconfiscatable
Specifically the unconfiscatable nature and strength through decentralization were immediately apparent to me.
I immediately began to think about how this could affect the power structures in our society and enable innovations. That was my "Holy Shit - this is huge" moment with bitcoin.
What was it like for you to read the bitcoin paper? And if you have not read it yet, why not?

Wasn't there one fork of Bitcoin that was designed to allow the un-used Bitcoins to be reclaimed. I wasn't clear on who would get those coins, but they seemed to be targeting the ones that Satoshi had.
I first read it on 2017. At first I was into it because of the utility and use cases. At the time I was really more interested in Ethereum and Dash. But eventually I thought "why the hell not" and got to https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf and was surprised that it was basically just 9 pages and was further surprised that I could understand most of it. Te reason I didn't read it was because I though it'd be full of cryptography and programming. It's not the tech that made Bitcoin amazing. It was the idea and the new ground it broke.
yea i was also amazed at how easy it was to understand
I've read it! I've first learned about Bitcoin in 2011 and I've read about cryptocurrencies every day since 2013 but it took me a while to actually read the whitepaper. I think the first time was actually in 2014. It too fascinated me since day one.
