More Drama at the 2018 Bitcoin Superconference in Dallas
Charlie Shrem is one of the early leaders of the Bitcoin movement. He was scheduled to speak this morning but they filled his spot with someone else.
Now, to put this in context, John McAfee was billed as a speaker at this conference but is now absent from all the materials.
UPDATE: John McAfee showed up and gave a pretty good talk. Word has it that he was concerned about safety if his speaking time was published beforehand.
Now the event organizer has announced that not only is Shrem not going to speak, but that he is now claiming that he never said he would come in the first place. The organizer Richard Jacobs says he has emails that contradict Charlie, which were sogned with his PGP key.
If true, this is a betrayal by Charlie. If untrue it is a betrayal by Richard.
We still have a large number of important and active people in this space. Tim Draper gave a great opening presentation. But it is dosappointing to be deceived like this.
Now listening to a presentation from the CEO of Changelly about Atomic Swaps. So I’m a happy camper.
Wow that is sad how they could just backtrack on their word about Charlie speaking.
For real. He is the only no-show now, so I am tempted to think it was Charlie. But who knows. Charlie offered to pay for another disappointed attendee to come hear him at another conference which was a stand-up thing to do. Very strange.
