Are all your friends on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp, Wechat, and other social media sites, real and genuine?

Friends, just read this short story and you will understand why I asked this question.

Today, September 7th, 2018 would be a day my female colleague will never forget in her lifetime. The day trust, love, and relationship would cease to have meaning in her life, at least for a long time. A day she would have ended her life. Today, she was duped by a ‘friend’ she met on Facebook.

Jessica had met this guy on Facebook in March 2017. His profile picture was handsome and cute. Other details contained in his profile seemed to be real. A friend request was actually sent to Jessica by this scammer and she accepted. They became friends and started this online dating stuff. To cut the long story short, in July 2018, Jessica’s facebook lover proposed to her and promised her that he will marry her. Jessica thought she had hit the jackpot and started spreading the news of her marriage to everybody around her. The guy , who claimed to be a South African based in the USA, then informed Jessica that he will be coming to visit her in Nigeria on Sept 1st, 2018 to meet with her parents. But before this date of his supposed arrival, he tricked Jessica and swindled her of her life savings worth 300,000 USD. It was today that the scammer was exposed before Jessica and she broke down in tears and anguish.

The social media platforms have become the hunting ground for scammers and the rate at which social media scam is increasing is quite worrisome. On daily basis, people fall prey to the tricks and antics of these scammers and then end up being swindled of their money.

Jessica’s experience has made me understand the pain and frustration other victims of social media scam passed or are passing through. I really share in their pains.

In a bid to find a solution to this menace, I discovered that one thing is usually common with these scammers - they do not use their real identity. So, only a reliable, trusted, and an incorruptible system where member or users of social media platforms are well verified can bring an end to this nightmare.

Because I want to become an ambassador of clean and sanitized social platforms, I continued my search which yielded a big fruit. I have finally found the solution in a startup project currently in ICO stage called Social Chains.
