Shopify Integrates Bitcoin via Lightning Network

in #bitcoin2 years ago

This is potentially good news...

This sounds like big news right, Shopify is integrating bitcoin via the lightning network and now bitcoin can potentially be used at thousands of retailers globally...

Sounds great, so why is bitcoin not going up on this news?!

My guess is two reasons...

For one, it hasn't actually gone live just yet, and secondly, no one really wants to use bitcoin for payments.

Do people use gold for payments?!

They want to hold bitcoin and want number to go up... let the dollar keeps being used for payments and let bitcoin be used as a savings account.

Quite right! Hold on to BTC!

Thanks for your post! I would actually use Bitcoin for paying for stuff. And I'm not alone there. When Bitcoin shot up in price was when Tesla started accepting Bitcoin and not because people were expecting bad things happening to their fiat currency. I think paying in crypto is the future. maybe not bitcoin per se but some other currency maybe with faster transactions and less environmentally polluting

Yea the reason most don't want to use bitcoin speficially is due to appreciating in value over time. Why would you want to spend something today that is likely worth more in the future?! That's also why the dollar is designed to lose roughly 2% per year - so that people will spend it and not hold it.
