Cloudflare Suspends Torrent Website for Cryptocurrency Miner 'Malware'
Internet domain supplier Cloudflare has begun to split down online running concealed cryptocurrency miners.
The news headlines came to light yesterday, when the operator of torrent site ProxyBunker told news website TorrentFreak that Cloudflare had moved to eliminate all its relevant domains credited to a miner hiding in the website's code.
A website to other torrent sites, ProxyBunker have been working the "Coinhive" monero miner for four times before the suspension.
Justin Paine, mind of trust and security at Cloudflare, reportedly told ProxyBunker that your choice was taken because the miner was operating in key, without option for people to disable the code, and was considered "malware thus."
Paine was quoted as saying:
"Multiple domains in your account were injecting Coinhive mining code without notifying users. ... We consider this to be malware, and as such the account was suspended, and all domains removed from Cloudflare."
A website miner functions by tapping the control power of site visitors' computer systems to mine cryptocurrencies. This specific process has gained notoriety in recent times, given situations such as torrent site The Pirate Bay's controversial decision to release a Web-based miner, that was later removed carrying out a general public outcry.
More notably perhaps, well-known companies like TV content provider Showtime have reportedly had mining malware hidden on the websites, stealing processing power from unwitting users.
