LOOMIA: Wearable Technology On A Whole New Level!
Hey all, recently I stumbled on this project, LOOMIA, who are wanting to expand the wearable technology industry, by making a thin and light fabric that has electrical components built in and can be touch-sensitive, emit heat or even light!
Wearable tech as of now, is bulky and unattractive, like VR headsets for example. LOOMIA doesn't want to change the way people look, so the design and sleekness of the smart fabrics are huge for the company. There solution will help out the people who don't feel comfortable with clunky wearables and disturb industries such as fashion and marketing research.
Here's an interview with CEO Janett Liriano explaining more...
"In Loomia’s world, your stylish ankle boots will be able to detect when it’s cold out and heat up to keep your feet warm." - Business Insider
Further more, LOOMIA wants to open the idea of you controlling your own data. We all know everything we do on our smart phones are being monitored and that data is being sold to big companies. LOOMIA is developing a decentralised "data exchange" where you the consumer can sell your data to companies directly. This takes out the middle man completely and with the tech LOOMIA are creating, the research will be more detailed then ever, making this a highly demanded product/platform for both the consumer and corporates!
LOOMIA is utilising blockchain tech by not only having a decentralised app (DAPP) to secure users data shared to the network, but by releasing Tile Tokens, a standard ERC-20 token that will fuel the data exchange. LOOMIA'S ICO date is still yet to be confirmed, they're currently having a pre-sale only for us
LOOMIAS Overall Ecosystem
The first patented product going to be offered is the LOOMIA Electronic Layer (LEL), a soft flexible circuit with the ability to sense changes and can be embedded into textiles.
How will the data be stored? The LOOMIA Tile, a slim and compact hardware device that transforms clothes into data-collecting and identity tools. The Tile is connected to the LEL circuit that feeds data to the Tile which is then stored.
The Tile Platform is a peer-to-peer (P2P) app which you upload your stored data off The LOOMIA Tile hardware device, then is integrated into a secure blockchain protocol to identify users' identities and gives you the ability to sell personal data to third parties (Data is not sold to LOOMIA, that is just the platform.)
About The Team
Madison Maxey is founder and technical lead at LOOMIA, where she designs technology and processes for seamless integration of e-textiles into everyday objects.
Janett is Chief Executive Officer at Loomia. During her time at Loomia, she has set up core manufacturing partnerships, established Loomia's supply chain and ensuring competitive IP strategy.
Dr. Solomon Lederer has over 15 years of technical experience in computer system design and programming. He has been teaching programmers and executives for 2 years about blockchain technology through Blockmatics, an education company he founded. He is the Blockchain lead for LOOMIA
Roadmap
My Opinion
I think this is one of the more creative crypto projects I've looked up on, while they're issuing just a standard token ERC token, I think this company should be on everyone's radar. They have had some good media coverage already and haven't been campaigning for very long, will be interesting to see how the token sale goes and if it will be worth anything.
Let me know what you guys think about LOOMIA and do you think it will catch on?!
