Scammers have found a new way to steal information about Bitcoin wallets. Malwarebytes cybersecurity experts have discovered that hackers disguise malware as cheats for the popular video game Fortnite.

After studying the online ecosystem of the game, the company came to the conclusion that the attackers spread viruses to steal browser history and data on the use of cryptocats - the disguise is a free subscription to the sixth game season on Android and cheat codes (Bogus cheat, WallHach and AimBot). Considering that Fortnite’s daily audience exceeds 125 million people, fraudsters can make good money.

Malicious software contains packages with free V-Bucks - internal game currency to pay for additional content. Download links are on YouTube channels of scammers who give recommendations on the game and “share” the malicious file “Trojan.Malpack”. Recall that crypt owners are becoming increasingly victims of hackers: according to June, more than $ 1.1 billion were stolen from members of the community with the help of malicious programs.
