CBOE Website Crashes As Futures Trading Begins; Bitcoin Price Squeezed 10% Higher with Bitcoin! The Cboe’s website crashed within minutes of the CBOE open on Sunday – which also marked the launch of the first bitcoin futures to trade on a major exchange - while the price of a single bitcoin spiked 10% in five minutes as the new contract (bearing the ticker XBT) fluctuated wildly.
They knew this was coming so why not spend a few extra bucks and upgrade your servers or better yet rent some extra hardware and toss on load balancing for this 1st week. Come on its 2017 not 1997!
Bitcoin surged immediately after the 6 p.m. open, climbing about $1,200 on GDAX before giving back some of those gains.

I agree! Like when Cal of Duty comes out every year, the first few days are hell online because they skimp on servers and underestimate the load. Now this is a prime example of how load balancing could have helped them scale the influx of sudden traffic. Now maby they know how serious people are about Bitcoin.
Exactly! You are right though, perhaps they underestimated the interest in BTC, and had all that tech in place, which would be interesting as well :-)
