Why I want Bitcoin to die in a fire!
"To editorialize briefly, Bitcoin looks like it was designed as a weapon intended to damage central banking and money issuing banks, with a Libertarian political agenda in mind—to damage states ability to collect tax and monitor their citizens financial transactions. Which is fine if you're a Libertarian"
I found the above gem here
I lean libertarian and so I love bitcoin and other p2p currrencies. I am also a pragmatist and I know that there is nothing more certain that death and taxes. However we do not embrace death, we try to postpone it to the extent possible and I think we should have a similar attitude towards taxes. The Nobel laureate Krugman thinks that bitcoin is evil, I think government and taxes are a necessary evil. Now bitcoin or the hordes of cryptos that are around cannot eliminate either death or taxes, but they can make taxes "less" necessary and that terrifies big government aficionados like Krugman. We are living in an era where technology has resulted in the consolidation of power. Governments are more powerful than they ever were. I would argue that the US government and perhaps even Russia and China are more powerful than Rome or the British raj at its peak and that is a big risk. We need a more decentralized system to mitigate the risks. For that to happen we need to find decentralized solutions for many of the problems that are now being addressed using powerful centralized systems. This will be an evolution rather than a revolution and technology will play a huge part in it.
