My Thoughts on the OmiseGO Coin (OMG)

in #bitcoin7 years ago

This is not an ICO, but you may remember I posted a twitter link yesterday or the day before, from OmiseGo stating they, along with Vitalin Buterin, went to talk to the Thailand Central Bank.

That is not only a great move for OmiseGO, but great news for crypto-adoption in general. Clif High has been predicting a large upward move in cryptos by the end of September, and Bitcoin at $13,000 by February 2018. This certainly helps push us in that direction.

In addition, @Jsnip4 just posted a video stating that Clif High's web bot report has said that OmiseGo may be another performer like Veritaseum (VERI). Not a competitor in terms of technology or use case, but in market performance and acceptance. Even though Veritaseum jumped up a lot in the very beginning, and has been slowly declining (still above $100), Clif predicts, and it makes sense, that once their platform is widely adopted, their token will really take off and reach its fair market value, well above its current state.

There's no guarantee of course, but certainly the above tweet is great news, and the underlying company seems solid. They at least seem to understand cryptos enough to enlist Vitalik (the creator of Ethereum) as an adviser.

Also, at the beginning of July when it came out, it was priced around $0.50 and now sits pretty around $8.

What is OmiseGO?

From their site: "OmiseGO is a public Ethereum-based financial technology for use in mainstream digital wallets, that enables real-time, peer-to-peer value exchange and payment services agnostically across jurisdictions and organizational silos, and across both fiat money and decentralized currencies. Designed to enable financial inclusion and disrupt existing institutions, access will be made available to everyone via the OmiseGO network and digital wallet framework, starting in Q4 2017."

Their parent company, Omise was founded in 2013, Omise is a venture-backed payments company operating in Thailand, Japan, Singapore, and Indonesia, with rapid expansion plans to neighboring countries across Asia-Pacific.

They were featured on Forbes.

Where can I get some?

You can't get them from the usual suspects. You have to get them from a non-fiat exchange, like Bitfinex, EtherDelta. I believe there have been some recent complaints about Bittrex. Either way, you always want to get your cryptos out of the exchanges. In this case you can use MyEtherWallet as there are no desktop wallets for OmiseGO that I'm aware of.
