SUMMARY
The Altcoins are acting like stars that are moving to align towards a MASSIVE move UP!! I don't know what or how, but something HUGE is about to happen. I'm expecting a MASSIVE price move UP at a scale yet unseen!
The Altcoins are undergoing a SPECIATION event! It's similar to the Cambrian Explosion that happenned on Earth 541 Million years ago. The Altcoin genesis has matured enough now for an EXPLOSION of price moves!

I believe that the price moves that are about to come to the Altcoins will redefine parabolic moves. However, it will NOT redefine human sentiment in that this price explosion will, once complete, correct.

Bitcoin is insanely overrated.
Once the Alts get the attention of the newbies we should see the explosion you're taking about.
We have been very patient with this stupid bullrun of BTC (basically a prototype) and it masked the Alts more than enough.
Positive side is that we now have a much bigger marketplace with a lot more people and marketcap.
So although the BTC guys were just trying to fill their pockets with their infinite forks they brought the space to a new paradigm, advancing it forward by almost a year in less than 6 months.
Bitcoin is essentially just a protocol, if you look at it from a purely technical point of view it reminds me a lot of IPv4. People have been predicting it's eventual demise for over 20 years and the way things are going, will be doing so for another 20. Incremental improvements to an established protocol are very often more than enough to keep better alternatives from gaining the necessary critical mass to take over. The tech sector is littered with similar examples. There are notable exceptions but most altcoins are themselves nothing more than incremental improvements over bitcoin.

" You may be correct on this, but there is one thing you overlook....... BTC absolutely REFUSES to make these incremental improvements.
Well you can argue that to some degree but I prefer to avoid religious discussions :)
For the most part I tend to agree with you and if things continue on in that way, someone putting the same argument forward at some point in the future will be right. For now I think Bitcoin still has enough of a lead to stay ahead but will that lead be squandered? Only time will tell.

in order for the "newbies" to buy alts they need to buy BTC first

100 biilion dollars poured into BTC/alts last few weeks... why all the negativlty with bitcoin - the alts have been doing great recently , is it because you don't have enough ? want some cheaper ?
we all know BTC is dated - but that hasn't stopped it - its the gateway to crypto, shocked that I even have to write this - the more money poured into btc the better it it is for your alts .
BTC was here first and for that its being rewarded- without Bitcoin you wouldn't have your alts
You could buy popular alt coins like ETH, Dash, LTC and most coins listed on Kraken without buying BTC.

It's not a healthy marketplace this way.
Alts need to be traded by fiat and should not be tied to BTC. BTC is just a name with no good function at all.
Have you seen any other market where thousands of commodities are closely tied to one prototype? And in such a stupid way that when BTC rises they MAY have a chance to rise a bit and when BTC falls a bit, they fall 4-5 times worse???
This will change in the coming years. Sooner or later BTC will loose this insane position that only comes from being the first.

if you are so opposed to using btc to buy alts then stop trading this is the only way you can show them how upset or angry you are - but not sure they care since billions of fresh money will be poured daily from wall street
Devrim: I would say it is more like how we price barrels of oil in USD and no other currency. That is the standard chosen and currently accepted. And based on that the US dollar gets a big discount on oil. It's the same concept, sorta... But I do agree with you still...
Let's say in human evolution the USD is a prototype.

BTC being the current well-known gateway to crypto is not a good or sustainable protective moat against other coins. There are many events that could remove it once the market & the crypto space matures. The scalability issues need to be fixed!
Personally I think the forks were terrible for BTC because it's few billions worth Currency into the market instantly. You can't build a currency that big that fast from scratch. They also stand as alternatives to BTC. Guess my $500 BTC prediction will come true sooner than expected. (I was originally thinking before the end of 2020)

Metaverse had some serious wallet issues despite having a bigger core dev team than NEO. If they get things together https://mvs.org/ is a easy X20 in a year. I'd advise you to be cautious with this one.
Sustratum unfortunately tripled while I was on ETH. It could still go much higher. But I'd rather stick with https://sonm.io/ which is to Golem which EOS is to ETH.
https://basicattentiontoken.org/ is already big. bit X5 in a year is 99.9999% sure. It just needs to have it's browser kick off (has over 1M Downloads on Android alone) and it'd be taking on online advertisers the same way BTC took on Bankers.

Im also very new to market and the behaviour of it, currencies exchanges and all this ..
But there is a fundamental doubt I have when reading this post:
Does the Crypto market work in the same way as what you experienced in the conventional market previously? This new world may come with its own new patterns of behaviour and don't respect the old ones.
Since some fundamental rules of fiat currencies don't apply to cryptos. Cryptos are something else, something new, can we expect cryptos to follow the patterns of the market that were always reliable in the past?
Do you detect any new modes of behaviour ?
