How to Claim your Bitcoin Cash! $$$ | Exodus | 7th AUGUST UPDATE!

in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

So, we are just hours away from the most historic fork in cryptocurrency history! Fingers crossed everything runs smoothly and Bitcoin doesn't crash into dust.

As we all know, before this fork if you acquire Bitcoin Core coins you will subsequently have the exact same amount of Bitcoin Cash coins but no balance yet for those new coins. I've seen online a lot of people in the space wondering how they will be able to claim their free BCC FREE COINS!

FREE COINS FOR EVERYONE! WooHoo!

I just wanted to make a quick post to inform people who are new to this space.

Basically claiming BCC is extremely simple. All you have to do is export your private key to the official BCC client after August 1st. You send the key from whichever wallet you are holding the Bitcoin coins in. Here's an example with Exodus:

UPDATE!

Get Exodus 1.31.0

Go to help, then 'how to claim Bitcoin cash'. Follow the steps. Basically get your new address to Bitcoin Cash Wallet!

As easy as that!

Once you have exported the key to your desktop folder (or whatever folder) then go and send the keys to BCC official client. They will then send your coins to a new BCC supported wallet of your choice. A safe wallet will be released shortly after the fork.

Then your new FREE COINS will be available. But don't get too excited, after the fork your Bitcoin Core coins are 99% guaranteed to have less value than before. This is the crypto world though so I might be wrong. Let's all hope the value will hit the moon after the new improvements begin to activate.

This truly is a very exciting time. For someone like me who isn't just interested in trading the crypto market but also very enthusiastic about the technology in general! These next 10 hours are huge. I'm behind this fork and believe it will have a positive impact on the market. let's hope it all works out for everyone!

Thanks for reading.

good post!

RE: "...after the fork your Bitcoin Core coins are 100% guaranteed to have less value than before...". How do you know that for a fact?

good question, it's because there going to be a lot more coins created because of the duplicated coins for BCC. Basically inflation! It's pretty much certain the value will drop but hopefully I will be proved wrong aye!

I think it's more like 99.9% buuuuut

think of it like this - you buy an apple from me. Then after giving you that apple, I say 'nonono dis aint no way 2 eet an apple mon' so I take your apple, cut it in half, and then give you both apple halves but I call one of those halves apple 2.0. Do you have any more apple than you did a moment ago? Are you any more likely to go on a safari with a cheetah or ride a kodiak while chasing a puma?

Nah, now you just got 2 apples. Each one is just worth 0.5 apples.

looks like we were wrong! #3,200

I'm confused on what to do after I export my Priv key, Can I just send Btc to Bittrex or kraken and get both btc and bcc? Also wanted to note that am I suppose to Import those private keys to some other wallet that supports it? I've downloaded bitcoin unlimited, electron cash but there's no option to Import private keys? I think i've looked through top 10 google pages on this. Just really no clear instructions on what to do witht he private keys. Thanks in advance!

"But don't get too excited, after the fork your Bitcoin Core coins are 99% guaranteed to have less value than before"

Well, how do you feel now? xD

haha, this crypto space really does have a way of surprising you! quite remarkable. Looks like everyone who had Bitcoin Core now has extra internet money falling from the sky!

have a nice day

thanks bro, you to!

thank you for support

Thanks for the info! I've done the exporting the keys part, but what does ''official BCC client'' mean? Will it be some kind of wallet available on Bitcoin Cash's official web site?

yes exactly right, export keys directly to BCC client on the website then request coins to be sent to your new BCC wallet when it's available.

What exactly is the "official" BCC client? Can you provide a link to a website or resource that provides a download link?

Seems like Exodus wallet owners will soon be guided on how to get their hands on their Bitcoin Cash:

As of August 1st, 2017 @ 1:00 PM Pacific Time - The Bitcoin hard fork has completed successfully. Within the next 24-48 hours, we will provide guidance on what customers need to do to claim their BCH/BCC. -Exodus

does this work with Electrum wallet? I just got this wallet in order to claim my free XLM Stellar Lumens tokens. It would be nice if I can also use the same wallet to claim my BCC.

yes, I have electrum as well and you can 100% export your key from that wallet. Electrum can't hold BCC tho. Well yet anyway. BCC will release a wallet soon or someone will create one. Just make sure you trust the new wallet.

So now that the fork is over, do i just send my btc from exodus to the bch wallet on Bittrex?

No don't do that, export your bitcoin private key to a folder on your desktop then go to the official BCC client online and send them your key. They will then send your BCC to your chosen BCC wallet! I recommend waiting just alittle bit longer for a good tried and tested wallet to be released. Hold tight, your coins aren't going anywhere!

Will you still be able to acquire bitcoin cash with Litecoins or other altcoins, or will you have to convert them back to Bitcoin, then proceed to export the private keys? Also, I feel like a lot of wallets and trading websites didn't adopt the new currency because they might have insight as to what will happen soon after the introduction of Bitcoin Cash.

You will only have bitcoin cash if you had some bitcoin in a private wallet before the fork. And yes I think your right!
