Another new index fund??

A new cryptocurrency index fund has been stated to be introduced . Though they haven't introduced how it will be structured to the public, there still are somethings they disclosed. First of all, there is always the good and the bad to anything in life so I am going to share some opinions on the cause of this new cryptocurrency index. And also the risks in investing in it.

Firstly their requirements for being an accredited investor in the US means 300k joint income, 200k single income or having a net worth of 1 million excluding your primary residence.

It favours the investor because they will sell a lot of shares to attract investors and who doesn't want to buy shares. But ask yourself this question, what if they choose to sell more coins in the future to come.

Another fact is that coinbase is being sued by lots of people now for allegedly earning a ton of money because they added certain coins to their exchange. It's actually considered as Market Manipulation when you add new coins to the exchange market just like that. In a way it's conspicuous because they think they are trying to swindle their investors.

Also due to their 2% per year fee your underlying assets will slowly get eaten away. Insurance is also risky because the coins are with them and not you so if anything were to happen to them, investors would find it hard collecting it back. Also coinbase is hacked from time to time, this puts you in risk also because you could lose everything even before you enjoy your profits.

This new index fund is like an experiment so I'm curious how it plays out because they are taking precautionary methods to ensure people benefit from it. But I hope they allow investors invest early. There is a big chance that this becomes a disaster but there's is also the fact that it could become a huge success. So why not try something new, it could be what we need.
