No, you havent told me the city until now. Ive visited Montreal (beautiful city), and Quebec in the past. I was big in the hockey scene growing up. I played at Quebec stadium for juniors and played against J.p dumount, Micheal York, Mark Eaton and others. Im right near the fed gangster.inc scoundrels currently just outside NYC...
I know those names LOL. I was at the Expos last ever game there at home, I was interviewed by some of the national sports media actually.
If you go way down my page about 10 days, you will see a personal post of the guys with names my draft year etc I was on the ice with, they were just a lot better than me.
You will get a kick out of some of the comments and names most likely.
I think that you played in the rink that is closed now, as of 2 yrs ago?
The Oshawa Generals here won the Memorial Cup there, 2 yrs ago, just b4 it closed if it is the same rink!
Yes it is closed now, it was where the Quebec Nordiques played. Its a great sport and i had alot of good times. Ill have to check out those posts and go down memory lane. Those names are pretty well known, I played with Mark Eaton locally for three years on juniors at Long beach on long island. He was always an amazing defenseman one on one in drills to try and get around as well as just a very good person. I was happy for him when they won the cup cause what a straight up dude he was. I played with Rob Scuderi who won the cup with Mark, in high school and we won st championships every year there... Al Bundy Polk High stories.. haha. Quick story.. I was on the bench to go out on the next shift, a person got hip checked, flipped legs over head and cut my throat from front of it to side under my ear. The scar is still very visible but clean cause of the sharp skates. It had just missed my jugular by milli meters and I was blessed to have a nurse in the stands that ran over and put her fist in the wound. I lost over half my blood and flatlined twice but was fully conscious and talking otherwise. 400 stitches later I played one month to the day later... Pretty wild.
That is a crazy story, I likely heard about it back in the day, and I am shocked at this news but glad you are here to talk about it.
Eaton is huge LOL
I sent your info today to a couple people in Canadastan so they could connect with you.
Are you here still in Canadastan, or did you say (or not say lol) you are in NY State now??
I fouled a fastball into my eye the last year of pro training camp for baseball many years ago, nearly lost the eye, tons of stitches and blood and I was a mess for awhile but honestly, you have to get back on that horse right away or fear sets in.
I was on the field the next night for batting practice and in the field too, they made me wear batting helmets for awhile.
Concussed (again, like you can relate I bet) - lost a lot of blood. -- but not like what you lost for sure.
The ambulance drove right up to home plate and they loaded me in and I nearly made it back for the end of the practice LOL
