The Australian banking system disappeared my money

in #bitcoin7 years ago

I went to the dentist last week and tried to pay with my debit card 3 times, but because of a pending balance my account apparently didn’t have enough funds on the first attempt.

I transferred money between accounts and tried another two times but it kept coming back declined.

When I got home I checked my transaction history and saw the transaction had gone through!

I called the dentist back the next day and they assured me they had not received the payment still.

Today I needed to go back to the dentist so I asked them about it and the boss dentist said he’d check their banking - he assured me there accounts were not showing they had received it.

I mentioned at the reception that they should accept Bitcoin.

The receptionist said she doubt it would ever happen so I asked why and she said the boss dentist probably didn’t understand it and neither did she.

My dentist chimed in that he went to a friend’s weddings the weekend and his friend was accepting bitcoin for wedding presents because he had started one of the first wallets in Singapore.

Then the dentist boss came by and after filling him in on the missing funds situation I suggested he should accept bitcoins but he was skeptical. He said “if I had any bitcoins I would have sold them ages ago”.

At home, I called back my bank and they put me on hold twice for around 20 minutes and gave me a number that I could give to the dentist that will supposedly confirm they have the money.

Now they are both closed, so will try give them the number tomorrow. Failing that, I will need to lodge a disputed which will take 8-10 weeks.

I had told the boss dentist that if I needed to do a dispute it’ll take 8-10 weeks and he agreed that the banks make too much money and hold onto it for too long. I don’t get how some ppl hate how the banks make undeserved profits but are not open to bitcoin.

I blame the media.
